Full Brothers Win In Qualifiers At Mohawk

Double O’Brien Award winner Caprice Hill made her 2017 debut this morning in a qualifier at Mohawk where she finished second to Lookslikeachpndale who won by four lengths in 1:55.3.

Sylvain Filion was up behind the winner for trainer Luc Blais and owner Determination Stable. A five-year-old son of Muscle Hilll Lookslikeachpndale was making his second appearance of the year having won his first qualifier last week as well. He earned $229,000 last season to give him $356,000 lifetime.

For Tony Alagna trained Caprice Hill, it was her first start since winning the Matron final last November. The four-year-old daughter of Kadabra has $1.2 million earned to date in her career.

The Blais/Determination team also scored with Jake, Lookslikeachmndale's full brother, who pulled Filion to a six length 1:56.3 effort. It was the second qualifying race this year for the three-year-old who took in $198,000 in 10 starts at two.

Lookslikeachpndale and Jake are the second and third foals respectively from Poster Pin Up, a daughter of Andover Hall who earned $439,000 in her racing career. Owned by Joyce and Richard McClelland of Ohio, the full brothers sold for $185,000 and $100,000 as yearlings.

Janderson, a winner of $139,000 from eight starts last year at two, was an impressive eight length winner in her test. Jody Jamieson was in the bike for trainer Mike Keeling and owners Dr. Roly and James Armitage.
