Im On Cloud Nine Completes Celias Counsel Sweep
Apr 23

Im On Cloud Nine overcame sloppy conditions and a first-over trip to win Monday night's $50,000 Celias Counsel Trotting Series final for three-year-old fillies, finishing off a series sweep in the process. The final time of the mile was 1:58.2.

Sugar Wheeler (Paul MacDonell) would set the pace in the race as she left out from post nine and carved out fractions of :28.3, :58.3, and 1:28.4 over the Woodbine strip that was rated two seconds off.

Im On Cloud Nine (Jack Moiseyev) was fourth in the opening-half of the mile, but then she came first-over past the half, and she would advance on the outside around the far turn, getting into the second position and sitting half a length behind Sugar Wheeler at three-quarters.

In the stretch Sugar Wheeler and Im On Cloud Nine would battle tooth-and-nail through the stretch, but Im On Cloud Nine forged her way by late in the going en route to winning by half a length. Sugar Wheeler was a game second and Sher To Be (Randy Waples) finished third, eight and a half lengths behind the top two finishers.

“We weren’t too concerned as long as we didn’t get any road trouble,” said trainer Kevin O’Reilly following the victory. “She seems very versatile. You can drive her anyway you want. She just has that desire to win, which is a great thing to have.”
